You know you're from South Buffalo if...
It's been a great summer. The weather has been b-e-a-utiful and I have been trying to make the most of it. Which means that I've been trying to stay out of my oppresively hot/sticky/humid house as much as possible. That has entailed alot of pool time at Jill's house. I can't seem to bring myself out of the pool when I know I should just go home. Some nights, I just can't.
She got the pool last summer and one day she was at the liquor store buying some wine (gasp!) and noticed a big, huge purple foot float in the window. It was a promotional item from Barefoot Wines. So she asked the people working what they were doing with it when they were done and they told her 'nothing' ... Jill liked the big, purple foot and thought it would be a nice addition to her pool. Long story short, they called her and she went and picked it up. So now, it's a regular poolmate.
One night, a few weeks ago, we were in the pool (gasp!) and she hopped onto the foot and stradled it at the in-step. She made mention that the big toe would provide a nice pillow when laying in the sun. And then proceeded to grab said big toe and begin as follows:
This little piggy went to the market,
This little piggy stayed home.
This little piggy ate corned beef....
And this little piggy ate none
I couldn't allow her to get any further with this nursery rhyme out of hysterical laughter. And when she looked at me and asked me why I was laughing so hard I pointed out to her that apparently her little piggies are from South Buffalo because they're eating corned beef, not roast beef. It took her a minute but withing seconds the two of us could not spot laughing and she fell off the foot.
It makes you wonder what the rest of the little piggies from South Buffalo do ... go to Doc Sullivan's; hang out in the park?
